Need some advice, looking for a G35 coupe

I've always had a Lexus or Toyota and I'm wanting a G35 coupe. What I would like to know is what are things I need to look for when buying a used G35. I will be looking at 03 - 05 models with 100,000 miles or more. With Toyota's you have to make sure timing belts have been changed and several other things but that is the major thing to look at. I've owned one Nissan product in my life so not really sure what to look for. All I know is the G35's look a lot better than anything Toyota or Lexus has for the money. I just sold my 2000 GS300 so I'm in the market and have been looking on craigslist. I'm looking for something bone stock, no mods. This will be my DD so no need to mess with anything except maybe a set of wheels. Also, I live in Tennessee, any idea of what I may have to pay for a well maintained G35 coupe, automatic tranny?

Anyways, thanks for any advice you can throw my way

You will just need to go through the car and replace everything in the maintenance guide. You have no idea what the prior owner did, so budget 1-2k on typical maintenance. I let my car sit for a year. While i was getting Body work down i found the leak into the spark plugs. 100 miles after driving it belts snapped. Rotors/Pads might be warped(no shimmy).

Remember this is my own car, and i know what maintenance i have done prior to it sitting. What you need to hope for is there are no internal issues. I don't have any exhaust problems, but with age comes rust. Wheni buy used i place wear and tear parts as a common occurrence and do not get upset with paying to replace as long as i got a good deal.

Example - i just bought a grand cherokee private sale - had the guy knock down the price and if he met me at the price i'd buy it sight undriven. He felt he gave the truck away. I drove it home. front Caliper was frozen and there was a knock in the rear. All 4 rotors/pads a brake line and 1G later it's perfect. All i care about is the underlying asset, the engine. Pulls strong and i feel i made typical enhancements ,let it be day one or day 500.

10ga....On average a 100K mile coupe can be picked up for $8K to $10K in good condition with service records. Less if it's been in an accident or it's on the verge of becoming a "Junk Yard Dog." Why would you want a 100K mile ride for a daily driver, do you need an excuse for not showing up to work or school?

In all honesty, I just figured it would have a lot of life left in it. I guess I've been driving Toyota's too long. My GS300 had 98,000 miles when I bought it and it had 175,000 when I sold it. Oil and tires was the only thing I spent money on and it ran great. I have a 2000 4runner in the garage that had 110,000 when I bought it and it has 223,000 on it now. One timing belt change, oil, and tires.............that's it. I just wished Lexus or Toyota made something that looks as good as the G35.

just check to see if it burns oil or not and if the window motors and door locks work. The rest are pretty easy to fix.

Before you buy have it inspected by a qualified technician.

Like temjinx2 said, make sure to check to see if the doors lock and use the power window function to make sure the windows go up all the way and stay there. The only complaint I have had about my g35 is their electrical issues and its soft paint. But the car is so worth it. Good luck!

Then again there's really no way to tell if anything will go bad right after you buy it lol... Within 2 weeks I had to replace the throttle body as well as driver door lock actuator on my coupe.

+1 , then go from there, check service records, if none be prepared to service based on mileage.
