ABS Self Check Sound
ABS Self Check Sound
So looks like I get that ABS self-check sound when I start my car and start driving forward a bit. Or at least I think (hope) it's the ABS self check sound.
People say it almost sounds like a spring being released but mine sounds more like a scraping/grinding sound. Anyone else hear something similar?
Happens for a second at most, every time I take off after the car has been sitting a while.

You gotta learn to ignore that sound! Should happen within seconds of starting your G. Sure got my attention when SLICK was new, did a SEARCH discovering it was normal....Gary

^If the radio is on before the car moves, your not going to hear it. Those that don't pay much attention to the sounds their car makes, I'm not surprised if some have never heard it before.
I pay attention to my baby! The only sound I heard during initial acceleration is a click in the front area. And there's the rear axle click I hear when driving in my garage. That's it lol. Does the sound come on right after u start the car or when u move forward?
^Once you start moving forward. You should hear it within the first 20-50ft (guestimate). Since the ABS crap is right in front of you, you should definitely hear it with the hood open.
ABS self check... is that what that noise is? I might have heard that maybe like once or twice in my G35, but my mom's Accord does it every time she drives away in the morning. I've heard other cars make the same sound. Whether it's the ABS self check or not, assuming it's the same noise I'm thinking of, it's a pretty normal noise for many cars and probably nothing to worry about.
