I just read thru that link also... it posts the spring rate for non sport vs. sport susp.

After reading thru this thread his original question could be has anyone spent a lot of time in a sport susp. model and a non-sport susp model to be able to notice a significant difference?

I've only had sport susp. with 19's and know it's bouncy and often very stiff, but I expect it on a car like this. I wouldn't want it to float.

Here are the pertinent bits:

Oem linear springs
G35 coupes with oem 17’s & 18’s (non-sport)
Front:314 Rear:342

Oem linear springs
G35 coupes 2005/2006 with oem 19’s only (sport)
350Z 2004.5 to 2008 (revised suspension)
Front:314 Rear:427

So the sport rears are about 25% stiffer. I have them on my sedan and it's not an overly-stiff ride -- this is my DD and family car. My original sport sedan suspension was the same spring rates as a non-sport coupe, so I effectively went from non-sport coupe to sport coupe spring rates. Hope that helps.

Swivel's post is right on, but it's not just the springs that are different. The '05/'06 and onward sport suspension coupes had thicker sway bars as well, and 19" wheels.

My '04 obviously was non-sport, and I added Stillen sway bars, Tokico D-Spec shocks dialed a bit stiffer, and the OEM 05/06 19" wheels. I am still on '04 non-sport springs (fronts are the same) because I didn't see the need to add more roll stiffness in the rear in addition to the sways and stiffer shocks. I will say the ride is definitely a bit stiffer, but by no means punishing. The handling improvement is worth it, however, and this is how the car should have come from the factory.

All G35 OEM shocks are made by Tokico.
