2006 G35 Problems???

Im looking at a 2006 G35 with 140k... It has factory Nav and Sunroof... What kind of price is good for this mileage??? Car looks like its in good shape and has good tires and all.... I have never owned an Infiniti so im kinda concerned about the mileage how reliable are these cars and what problems should i look for with the car???? Also does this car have a timing belt or chain??? any help would be very appreciated...

For that mileage I'g say about 7-8 stock & thats if everything is in tip top shape. If I were you just look for a low mileage one for about 14-16K range.

Pay a low enough amount that if you were sacked with having to install a new engine or transmission you wouldn't regret getting the car.

Is it an automatic or manual trans?

^ Thats what I would pay personally. If the car had all maintenance papers & is up to date on it I would be up in the 8-9K range for a bone stock G. Then again thats me.

Buying any car with 140K miles on it's clock, you should attempt to get an Nissan warranty cause you're gonna need it. Price depends on the condition and service records plus I'd have a qualified Nissan mechanic check it out for anything that might leave you stranded....Gary

i would go for a lower mileage car if possible. Also you should state whether its a auto or manual because it would be a huge difference in price. Usually manuals command about 2-3k more then autos with the same specs.

At a 140k, the piston rings are going to start going, so you'll have oil consumption. I bought my car at 110k and the engine was fine, at 143k the car started eating about 1qt of oil every 1000 miles.

The car still runs fine, and powers still good, it's just a annoying. I usually change my oil every 3k anyways but i do top off a little bit if i decide to go on a long trip.

But i would say maybe 8-9k for a auto and maybe 10-11k if its a manual.

If you can't afford a lower mileage G, you can't afford the car. You'd be better off getting one with 60k and only having to do simple maintenance. By 140k, the car will still be running strong, but you're going to have to dump a lot into it. New bushings all around, new trans, wheel bearings, shocks, timing chain, fluids all around, probably a complete brake overhaul. All of these really depend on what the last owner replaced, but doing all of that isn't worth it IMO and if you don't know what the previous owner did you're going to get hit out of nowhere with some components failing.

This isn't just isolated to the G, it's any high mileage car.

Take your time and keep looking for the right car. I bought my 05 Sedan 6MT with 70k for $13,100. with a clean carfax 2 owner car. and got it warranteed to 95k. It took a little bit of time but it will be worth it.
