The flip open door on the console ash tray is stuck shut. How can I open it short of removing console or breaking it?

 

I don't have an answer but be careful since the locking mechanism can break rather easily. Still need to fix mine...

 

^^ Hah, I broke the locking mechanism on mine a couple of days ago after a coin got stuck in it. That's probably what happened to you RMB. You probably had something in the ashtray that somehow made its way back and got stuck somewhere. You should take out the shifter bezel and shake the ashtray a bit to see if whatever is stuck in there comes loose. I should have been more careful with mine and not tried to force it to open and shut.
