Extended warranty costs
Hi guys,
I recently purchased a 2006 G35 coupe, 6mt, RAS with 77.5k miles. Car is really clean and appears to have been well maintained. The 60k miles service was done at 67k, as the receipt was with the manuals. I went ahead and replaced motor, tranny, rear diff with Amsoil fluids.
I also purchased an extended warranty for 5 years, 60k (additional miles). I paid $2,500 for full coverage (I don't have Nav). Purchase from the Lexus dealership i purchased the car from. For reference, my father purchased a brand new Tundra, and his extended warranty for 100k cost him $1500.
What are your thoughts? I can return the warranty withing 30 days for full refund, or cancel any time for prorated amount. Should I keep it or return it? Are there better options? I know there are all sorts of cost effective companies out there, but i also know getting claims approved is a PITA for some people.
Any thoughts are appreciated!! Poll response AND text answers please Glad to be on the forum.

I know about the TSB. My car was manufactured in Mar 2006, so I think I'm a bubble car in terms of production. I like to wrench and will do some of the simple stuff.
The plan is a warrantly plan, *not* a maintenance plan. Doing air filters, oils, is pretty basic and I can handle. The radiator fluids were changed at 67k so I'm good for a while. Thanks for the response.

I would DEFINITELY go to Infiniti and ask them for a price on their Infiniti Elite Factory extended warranty. You will not be dealing with a THIRD PARTY WARRANTY and you car is most likely eligible for the factory warranty. I am now on my 2nd Elite warranty and both of them have paid for themselves for all the work that was done on my car which is a non modified original owner car with 52,000 miles. By the way, I have a zero deductable as well.

After almost 10 years of ownership, I can honestly say the G35 (especially the Coupe) is a fairly fragile car accept for the engine (non-rev and the slush box). If planning on keeping the car for awhile the warranty was certainly worth it for me. I happen to be a concervative driver and can just imagine what these front ends must go through under hard driving. Go for the Elite. You won't be sorry. Everything on this car is costly.
