Rarely drive my car usually doing some new mod, have let car sit for over a year without power to ECM and would fire right up after reconnected to battery.

ECM will go to the factory base tune and relearn and adjust for your driving habits.

Battery type will depend on how much you want to spend. Can't go wrong with an Optima red top, but we are talking over $100 easily.

I was going to get it. Do they fit with all the stock hardware? they look bulky.

+1 for the Optima Red-Top batteries. I have one in my Tacoma and also in my G35. They're pretty good batteries. There are other batteries out there that would be even better, but you'll be spending a lot of money to get them (Such as Odyssey). The Optima batteries are also decently light-weight compared to many other batteries. I believe the one for our cars weighs about 31 pounds, relative to the 50 pound Odyssey equivalent(although the Odyssey is a stronger battery with more CCA and capacity).

If you decide to get an Optima, I'd recommend keeping your eyes out for deals at Advance Auto Parts. You can usually get them for a steal of a price by using Advance-Auto Coupon codes (when you buy online and enter the code into your virtual cart at checkout), and combine that with one of their occasional manufacturer rebates, plus if you use Ebates.com/FatWallet.com you can get an extra 6% back via rebate. Choose In-Store pickup at your local store so that you don't have to pay shipping costs.

Right now the Optima 35 battery at Advance Auto is $182 list price. $182 - $50 (using coupon code HUGE50 to get $50 off purchases over $175), plus an extra 6% off of that from Ebates.com link referral = $124 not including local sales tax.

You'd have to keep your eyes out for a mail-in or online Optima rebate if you really care to get the absolute best possible deal on one though. I think the best I ever got an Optima Battery for after all the rebates and discounts was like $112.

By the way, they do fit in the car stock without any special modification or weird mounting equipment required.

i know, i have no issues on the ECM!

I would suggest remove your negative battery terminal so you will not harm the battery till you come back! The battery is discharge right now because it's been sitting for a couple of weeks but i think It's still good.

I had my car sitting for 3 months and the battery was discharge at that time. When i started using my car again i just jump started it and drove a couple of miles and have no problems with it. This was just last week too!

Have her buy a trickle charger, or just a regular battery charger from Autozone for like $20. I'm certain this wont be the only time you will use it.

i would suggest that too but he will still be away for 4 months and her wife doesn't use his car!

you can go on amazon. There battery chargers they'll keep your battery charged and stop when its fully charged. I think its like $50 last i checked. If your wife doesn't really want to drive it or disconnect the terminal.

just remove neg terminal and call it a day, unless wifey gets turned on by driving the car

What do you guys think about the Walmart Everstart Maxx? Their rated good on consumerreports but the fact that it's a walmart brand makes me iffy.
