just got a 2005 g35 coupe 6mt--help!!!
hello everyone i just got my 2005 g35 coupe 6mt about a week ago.... i was driving it today and smoke starting coming out the engine??? it was from the front right of it and i couldnt really tell what it was it smelled like burnt oil for sure.. has anyone come across this??? i also have a rattle metal like sound?? i have been searching but everyone hasnt really posted a solution? thanks!!

That sucks. If you bought it from a dealer, take it back right away. They usually have a 30 day/ 1000 mile warranty with every used car sale. If it's a private party, then take it in and have it checked out.

The smoke issue is probably coolant coming from a leaky radiator or a cracked/broken hose. Can't really help on the noise, could be a lot of things.
|
Coolant has a specific oder and it's difficult to miss since it's green, that would be the easy fix. It could also be valve cover gasket leaking oil on his manifold which also smokes. Take it to your mechanic, needs to be fixed regardless....Gary

no its oil im sure of it.......... but after i drove it again it stoped???

You can always tell when someone is new to forums
|
^ Says the guy with 7 posts

LOL, He might be new here, but maybe not new to forums in general. But good observation.
OP: Have you popped open your hood and checked around?... |

lol now is that really a bad thing? Not posting about my car is GOOD for me = Zero problems. Look at me responding back on the internet to a troll, what was I thinking? I'm no noob. :45:
|
LOL I'm no troll. I read through the comments and stumbled across yours so I was just curious about your comment considering how few posts you have. Like many others, I check out the more recently active threads. Your comment was just funny. :)
|
Ouch, that would suck if his OC is that major
|
Lolol yea I'm pretty new here and its funny cause we all used to type like that until we all started getting harrased by other users and getting annoyed with users used it when talking to us.. its like really, I don't need 10 explanation marks and 8 question marks to know you're confused. Proper grammer would be enough... sigh* maybe in another world
|
^ Talks about grammar yet has grammar issues himself as well as typos -_- Not bashin', just sayin' lol. And it's proper grammAr. Have a nice day. :)
|
^ I'm noob but your comment are epic @350gt_ :)

I would say first look around the valve covers also depends on how much oil is there if there is a lot look at the block. Also double check oil amount and filter on tight. Pull the spark plugs and see if there is oil on them which is another indicator of valve cover gaskets which is an easy fix lmk
|
Possibly an Oil-Consumption plagued rev-up 05-06 motor.
How much did you pay for the car, how many miles, and how long have you had it for? |
i agree with gary..its more likely the a leaky valve cover. If the cars been sitting there for awhile..oil would collect along the engine then burn away...ie smoke coming from the engine. You probably won't see it again, until the next time you let the car sit for a bit.
I doubt its oil consumption from the engine if you saw smoke coming from the engine since it would just burn and come out through the exhaust, but not something i would completely rule out either. Take off the engine cover and inspect the engine from head to toe. |
hope everything is fine with you're car. bad start to the g family huh

Help help with a/c belt
Hey everyone i just replaced my a/c belt since it poped. When i was finished i noticed the front of the a/c compressor is not spinnin with the piece that has the belt going... Is this normal?? It spins randomly and stops and spins again...? I also touched it a bit and its very hot! Any input???
|
Im new to all this that is why i am asking not trying to sound stupid.....
|
It's just the ac clutch.. basically a/c compressor clutch is the round thing on the front of the compressor with pulley wheel attached. This clutch is an electro magnetic clutch that when electricity is supplied, engages so as the a/c compressor is driven ,which can then pump freon through the ac system.
|
That's normal. Just means your AC is on. Everything else is good?

is it like a clicking noise? If so, still normal. as long as its not squealing like a dog that just got hit by a car then youre good.

Take it to a AC shop. By the sounds of it you had the can that you buy from pep boys. Get it checked, the right way to refill is evacuate, then at least 30 minutes vacuum to remove moisture, and then inject oil, and then recharge and add dye to see if there's any leaks, but you need an AC machine for that. Also if there is still no cold air see if your ac clutch has a fuse. But AC is very technical, you have to look at pressures low side and high side. Hope this helps.

I must have misunderstood this, I guess you meant it stopped smoking not stopped running.
