i never thought about it before, but most coupes come with the extra option trunk mat with "standard" space saver tire, which is $70. it's an option but all of the coupes have it. now, if the space saver tire is "standard", what you're really paying the $70 for is the damn trunk mat. when i first got my coupe, i noticed that there were two mats in the trunk. if i'm not mistaken, one came with the car and the other was the optioned trunk mat. unless they accidentally put in two optioned trunk mats. but i assume that in a luxury car, the trunk would come lined or matted, hence the first mat.

also, what's the point on website to put "trunk mat with standard space saver tire" and not just trunk mat? is it because no one would want a $70 mat. and the infiniti bigwigs thought that adding "standard space saver tire" would sound more like the customer was getting a deal?

just some thoughts here....correct me if i'm wrong. because, when i ordered my 05 coupe, i didn't state i wanted the trunk mat. i wonder now what i'm going to find in the trunk.

 

wellz, at the website, that is just stating that, there are two mats, one for the standard size spare, while another mat is made for the full size spare, which could only be found on the sedan models. The prices are differ. As for the thin layer of mat thats is in every coupe, its just as plain as you can be. Getting a floor mat for $70, is just for looks. It makes your truck looks a lot nicer, versus just a grey dark mat with NO Infiniti logo, you don't what that do you? hehe. I would get it as an accessory, since its not gonna come from the factory, due to you not ordering it. If I could do it all over, I would of done this, that would be $70 less to finance .

 

that was actually what i was wondering.....are there two different spare tires--a standard size and a spacesaver size that comes with the optional trunk mat? because in my 03 coupe, both mats were identical. they both had the infiniti logo on it. also, i thought that ALL cars nowadays come with space saver spare tires....it's probably cheaper for the carmakers to give us those cheapy little tires.

either way, i was just curious because it just dawned on me today that i never ordered the trunk mat with my 05 coupe. lol...i didn't care about the $70. i thought it would be included automatically, until i saw my car (by it's vin#) on the dealer website. worse comes to worse, i'll just snag the extra trunk mat from my 03 coupe that i gave to my sister.
