New 300hp VQ tested in R&T!
I have the new R&T that tested 9 sports cars and one was the 300hp Anniversary Z. Here is what they said about the new VQ...
"...notice a slight improvement at the car's top end and a little less down low, but the general character of the v-6 remains the same; it pulls well off the line and runs out of breath up high." They recorded 0-60 to 5.6 and the 1/4th at 14.1.
BTW, the Z was destroyed by the competition. The order was

BMW Z4 3.0
2005 Dodge Viper SRT 10
2005 Honda S2000
2005 Elise
2005 Porshce Carrera S
2005 Boxster S
2005 Corvette (1st)
Without price, the Carrera dominated. Boxter got 2nd and Vette got 3rd. The Z got dead last.

The Boxter S (New one) is one quick car, all of those (350Z,S2000,SLK,Boxter,Z4) ar ein the same class pretty much, dammit no M3 lol!!!! And losing breath up top is right, one thing i hated about the G35
My M3 pulls to 150 and keeps going with ease

March 2003 Road & Track got 0 to 60 in 5.8 seconds and the 1/4 mile in 14.4 @ 99.7. I'd admit that was the slowest recorded time for the Z ever. Hard to tell if the better time is from different conditions or the new 300hp/260 lb/ft and 7k redline is helping here.

WTF kind of comparo was it??? The price range is like... $30k-100k... lol.
The Boxster is very underrated by most people. It was the best car in the class with great neutral handling and perfect balance. Now they've increased the HP to 280, it should be even better... plus the new ones look better, too. I want one. hehe.
I don't see how the Z got dead last place... Is new SLK350 that good? I heard good things about it but still...

But this not the first time a vq car was in a comparo like this. I rember a while ago I think it was Car and Driver or Road and Track forget which one they tested the G35 against the Mustang Cobra, and the RX-8. The odd part was the G came in second to the RX-8 so I guess as long as the car fits the so called categories(sp?) they can do a comparo. But now I realize the 911 was in that comparo too so really its just an odd comparo.
