Wasn't even a race.
I think roadracer would be the kind of "finesse" drive that would take a dirt track car around with the pedal to the medal thinking that the more wide open he has it faster around the track it will go. Either that or be the kind of driver on asphalt that would coast it through the corners and then floor it dude down the straights. My whole point was ,case in hand ,I flat out drive a hell of a lot better than he did. He actually got the jump on the 20 mph punch but I think he road his rpms past peak hp before shifting. It does not do you a whole lot of good to wind it redline if that is not where your peak hp and torque range is at.

my 2.0l wrx automatic was putting as much power to the wheels as a stock STi (dyno proven) when i was finished with it (upgraded turbo, fuel, exhaust, reflashed ecu) and it would rape a g35/350z in a 0-60 run. even from a rolling start it would leave either of these cars. before i got rid of it, i went back to the small turbo for a while, lost about 30hp (now around 270), and it was about dead even with a 350z/g35.
now i have a g35 5at and as a whole, it's a lot more fun than the wrx. 0-60 times are respectable, handling is better (i only had wheels/tires on the wrx), road feel is amazing, and the top end 80mph+ feels a heck of a lot stronger.
word of caution when picking a fight with a wrx/sti... a lot of the serious owners go for stealth. if you see one with big carbon fiber wings and heavy body kits, odds are that's all it's got. if you see one that looks and sounds modded but you can't quite put your finger on what it is, watch out most of the $$ was probably spent under the hood.

Yup HAHAHA... I raced my friends Sti also last night, he has Greddy BOV, Intake and Accutek ecu with boost from 14 (Stock) to 18, but i was in my M3 haha! Anyway we tried to go from first gear roll but i was spinning all through first and when i hit second i was all over the road, scared the shi! out of me, usually i can control it but it was so damm cold last night, anyway then we went from second and he jumped maybe split second before my reaction, so we're going prob from 4k RPM for him for his boost and me at second so i wont be spinning at such a high rpm at 30 MPH or so and hes in top of first and im in second, he junps and starts pulling a little, as soon as im up from 2k RPM im rellin him in hard, by 80 im ahead by half a car and a car and by 110-120 i was almost 2 cars, we got it on video also and it lasted maybe not even 15 seconds, these cars both pull up there FCUKIN HARD, and the M doesnt even hesitate to get up past 150 and the G struggles at 120, it loses wind! Not doubting you but i am, i dunno, good race i guess but maybe umm, it was a WRX? Lol

No it wont, go drive an Sti and it pulls so hard up until 140, believe me!
Hey guys, i am a former owner of 2003 BS 6MT G35 Coupe and i can tell you that the G is a fast car. But, i traded mine in for an 05 Blue STI and that car is insanely fast! I'm sure you know this. Two different animals. Period. The G is most likely a better package, but the STI is an awesome toy, and i love it. That car pulls like a bat out of hell, so much to the point that it is easy to lose control. No Joke! I can recall many times when i'm doing like 65 in second gear...with no mods. I do miss my g sometimes though!
I have a SC on my G35 . I raced a STI at the 1/8 mile track . He jumped 2 lengths on me off the line [ he had a 1.9 ..60ft ] I got him at the 1/8 mile by only a half car length . A stock G is going to get waxed by a STI . If you was going 50mph and then hit it , you would beat him

haha, not to pick on you...but drive both (after break in) and you'll know right away what I mean
you were right about one thing, however..either will stomp on a stock G
(no contest on looks, creature comforts)

Man, if it took 3 shifts to hit 60 in a STI. A.) i doubt you were driving one! B.) You probably can't drive. Not trying to be mean, but i own one and have no reason to lie to you guys. The car really performes.

wasnt trying to be a jerk or call you out...i really needed to shift a third time (near 58) in both. they just ran out of power.... i dunno what to tell you
i guess you could wind 2nd all the way out and maybe hit 65...i did look into this further... here are some quotes from other STi owners

It's that second shift (2nd to 3rd) that spoils the 0-60.

not to mention the magazine articles attributing the short gearing and third shift to the slowed 0-60 times. maybe all those people can't drive

ahhh, crap, i'm an idiot... it takes 2 shifts... putting you in 3rd gear. sorry i miscommunicated... you still need to hit 3rd to go 60
again, sorry for the typo -> i meant you need to be in 3rd to hit 60

No disrespect either bro,but that example you posted is only from one person! I OWN an STI, and she does it all the time. It's probably not the best thing for the engine but she's more than capable of doing it. Read up on the car a little, and you'll see!
