Hi All,

I am looking at purchasing a 2003 6MT coupe. It has 29k miles on it. Tuning is something that I would really like to do so I want to make sure that it has the black ECU. I am looking at the car in just a couple of hours and it is for sale by a private party. I have searched for this and can't quite seem to find out if there is a way to know if it is black or grey without taking apart the interior like in the instructions on the site. Like is there a way to just "peek" and see which one it has? Or a vin check or something. Also I am confused as some sites make is sound like all coupes have the black ECU and it is just sedans that might have the grey one... Is that true?

It isn't able to be tuned with Osiris, I think it's also used in older Maximas as well. I believe Technosquare was the only company that developed a basic tune for it and they are either out of business or don't support the platform any more.

OP I don't know of a way to tell by vin, just a visual check.

 

I replied to your post on 6MT as well, but OP all the G35 coupes have the "black ECU" and are tunable. 03 Sedans you need to check manually

hope you get a good deal on it. low miles 6MT coupes can be pricey even at 9-10 years old. I paid 23k for my 04 with 17k miles...
