Got it today (VPP lease instead of purchase)

Got my 05 6mt today (DG-G, premium package, trunk mat, splash guards)...

I was gonna buy it but decided to lease it when I went to the dealer. Lease is based on VPP pricing. With 5K down, it came to $400 (including tax) per month which seemed like a pretty good price.

I was very excited driving it from the dealer to work. Cool car to be enjoyed greatly for the next 36 months!!

not bad, I put $1k down and pay $550/month but that was with 7% interest (lower credit score) on my lease of 39 months, with navigation.

Brilliant comment. O.K. how much did you put down? Did you have a trade? What were the options you chose? Was your G purchased new? What was the term 60 months, 66 months 72 months?? What was your interest rate? Anyone can have a large down payment and/or have a long term and have low payments. It doesn't mean that you got a better deal... Did the dealer give you $650 CASH when you purchased the vehicle due to an error on their part? That right there (at 7% is $19.31/month that ChazM got refunded).

Why would you even make a comment like that? Do you enjoy just trying to make other people feel bad? Weak! ChazM got his G for $500 over invoice. How much over invoice did you pay?

Congrats on the new G. I picked up my 05 last week, same color DG/G. Also decided to lease, and all I put down was the first months payment of $562.00. Nothing else.

Sorry, not my intent to offend. I was just shocked at the amount people would pay per month to lease and not own a vehicle. I guess I've always been a bit more fiscally conservative, trying not to over-leverage myself, shopping around hard to get the best deal, and only buying things when I have the means to do so. I'll admit I have a bias against leasing, even though for some it can make fiscal sense.

As for me, you can see what my car came with below. I bought it new in Sept, 04, for $400 over invoice, 3.79% interest, 48 months, ~$9500 down, no trade.

$9500 down would be impossible for me..........I feel that I get tired of cars usually around 3 years and I don't want to worry about being upside down or selling the car. I'd just rather give the car back to the dealer and buy a new car and spend about $100 less a month with little or no money down.

Now, if I kept my cars more than 5 years, then I would definitely purchase the car, as I would be crazy to lease a car for more than 39 months.

Honestly, I'm really happy. I spend $10 less a month than my previous '01 Acura and I like my G a gazillion times better

I can understand the desire to have a new car every 3 years, but in general, you come out on shorter financially with that arrangement because you're basically renting. And selling a car really isn't that big of a deal these days, especially with Autotrader, Cars.com, etc. I sold my 300ZX in a week using this method for double KBB value to the first guy who saw it. Anyway, it sounds like you're willing to live with leasing, though, so no biggee.

I think of more significance is the lease rate you got...I'm guessing you could have done much better outside of Infiniti, even with your credit. I checked out Infiniti's vehicle financing rate and it sucked. I cross shopped several lenders and finally went with USAA, who beat the lowest quote by a decent margin in the end. Negotiation was the key. Talk to as many lenders and dealers as possible and keep pushing till you get what you want.

Yeah, I did get hosed on my % rate, but that was mostly my fault. I had to drive about 2 hours to get to the place and I didn't find out the lease terms until I got there. I was assuming that my credit score was still above 700 like it was a year ago, and I knew if they offered me anything above 5% it was a ripoff........but I had a lower beacon score, so i was stuck with 7%.

Suzook~ that offer is a gimmic to get you into the door......you will NOT get into a lease with $3k down and $300/month for 36 months.........that would mean you would get the car for under $30k.....'05 coupe = no possiblility.
