06 Drivers Side headlight issue

Hey everyone, as you can see I'm a newbie here. Finally got my hands on a DG 06 coupe for a good price after months of looking.

I'm having a problem with my drivers side headlight.(06 OEM headlights) When I have the lights on the drivers side will stay on for about 5-10 minutes then go out. When I turn the lights off and back on it comes on normally. (until it goes out again) There are no issues with the passenger headlight at all.

I've also noticed that if the car is idle with the lights on the drivers light WONT go off. It ONLY happens while driving. I've done a little searching and couldn't find a thread with this particular issue. Prior to taking anything apart I wanted to see if anyone has any ideas. Any feedback is appreciated!

is it a circuit breaker? maybe the ballast?

Most likely it's the ballast either going bad or may have water in it. If you have time to take your headlights out, switch the ballasts from one light to the other and see if the problem starts to happen on the passenger side light then.

Could also be a bad bulb.

My guess is the ballast as well. Probably not holding enough voltage under load

Or wiring with the ballast. Was the car ever in a front end collision?

I'm with Blue on it possibly being a bad bulb.

When the ballasts go bad they have a tendancy to blow the headligt fuse.. especially if it has a short internally...

I had a bad ballast on my G when I bought it & had to rely on my fogs until I could replace it cause it kept blowing the fuse
