My Transmission Working Right?

Just bought an 06 Auto Coupe with 91K miles...Cool car but I do not know about MPG is right.

At about 75 MPH I am turning 3000 RPM.
Does that sound right?

Seems another gear would be nice/right? (G37 I almost got had 'em I think?)

Thanks

Here's how an '06 should be geared in terms of speed-to-RPM in each gear:

Sounds about right.

I regularly cruise 100+ miles at a time at 80MPH with the engine over 3K RPM. Seems to do just fine after 130K miles.

Your 06 and my 03 have the same mileage. I find that interesting. As to your question, yeah. That's fine. Back then, people didn't give automatics a whole bunch of gears. They figured they weren't going to do anything with'em anyway, so why spend the extra coin. I don't know if that's accurate, but that's my theory. It's the reason why I don't get autos...errr...didn't.

Does your car shift? If yes, then your transmission is working.

i just got an 06' Coupe and had the same question. I guess it just takes some getting used too. If i throw it manually into 5th gear, will i get better MPG's?

Is there a secret 5th gear the auto sensor doesn't know about? All it will prevent you from doing is passing as fast...

It won't make any difference.
