Wetsanding is the best way to re-condition lights that are really badly hazed. And as mentioned above they need to be sealed or better yet, re-cleared, when they are nice and clear.

If you're trying to get your lights cleaned and for it to last, you will have to wetsand them and clear coat them. That is the only way it will last, if not, you will have to continue cleaning them.
Wetsand with p1000(depending how bad they are) and then with p2500, then throw the clear coat. A good 2 coats will do fine.
If you're trying to go the other route, Rubbing compound is really good.
