30-40+ HP gain with this setup? No exhaust?
#16
I got about 30 hp gain with the tdx2 exhaust + art pipes + 5/16 spacer and a nismo intake(no gains basically).
heres my dyno chart...
so basically without the uprev tune i was pushing 253 and then reached my mods full potential of 264 after the tune. im more happy with my torque improvements from the mods though, im sure the 5/16 spacer and art pipes did the job there. notice the 25-30 torque gain in the 2k rpm range after the tune!

Hey, I just got a 2005 infiniti g35, and i do love it. I was reading somewhere about good mods that will improve HP greatly, and i came across this:
" The HKS Hi Power Exhaust is by far one of the most popular exhaust systems available for the G35. My neighbor has a 2004 G35 w/ Turbonetics turbo system, 8psi, and has the HKS, and it sounds awesome. In terms of power, it is commonly agreed upon that the G35, whether it has the "Rev-Up" engine (like you do) or not, they do not respond well in terms of power gains from intake and exhaust mods, with forced induction being the only way to make serious horsepower. Based on sound, go with the HKS. Also, HKS has possibly the best sound quality. If you want hp and a new exhaust sound, buy test pipes (unless you're in CA). I know they're illegal, but for $100 or less, you can get the hp and a new sound that you want for WAY cheaper (HKS Hi Po exhaust costs 1600 new!). The EVO 2 is nice too, but isn't as deep a sound as I like.
Test pipes will give you rasp you may need to hear some youtube videos of combos to find something you'll prefer (Good headphones required)
If you want real hp from the intake, get the Motordyne MRev2 lower intake plenum (discounted price for members of the website I mention below, just go to the marketplace and search it), and also get the Motordyne 5/16" spacer. It costs about $500 in total, and is dyno tested by members with the RevUp motors to consistently get an increase upwards of 20 hp and 18 lb-ft of torque to the wheels. It's a great and reliable setup, and will give some of the best performance gains for the money.
This is true if you have the RevUp. Arguably the best bang for buck mod available. Non revup is good for the 5/16 spacer only.
Look at Test Pipes ($100), MRev2 Lower Plenum ($450-$500), Motordyne 5/16" spacer ($200) (I know it sounds like bs from the product description, and you'll probably think "this p.o.s. won't do anything, but trust me, hundreds of other G35 & 350Z owners did it and got 10 more hp to the wheels) and a Z tube + Pop Charger (like a Cold Air Intake, only cleaner looking, cheaper, and much more popular on the G35) ($150)
Dont waste your time with the popcharger. All sound and heatsoak. If sound is what you want than disregard what I said. Intakes are a very touchy topic. If you have the Rev-Up just call it a day and leave the intake alone.
For less than 1k, you can get 30-40 real hp, instead of 1600 for 2 or 3 with an exhaust (it sucks that the VQ motors get almost no hp from exhaust mods, so you might just want to look at an midpipe and muffler combo like Magnaflow for the sound without all the cost. "
First off, is this true? Secondly, I really love the sound of the Motordyne Shockwave tdx2 with art pipes, but how much HP would this improve? and is their any combination that will give me the same sound as the shockwave with pipes, but give me the HP of the previous setup? assuming money is not an issue, thanks in advance.

Two things wrong...metal piping and exposed filter. These may work fine in the winter when it's cold, summer heat will cause heat soak so you'll have trouble keeping up with a '70s VW bus. If you don't have the $$ for the Stillen CAI/Z-Tube I suggested a K&N or AMSOIL drop in filter will help filter incoming air better than OE! Gary

People replace their mid-pipe with one from a coupe or Z because the resonator is smaller, lighter, and better sounding.

Thanks for all the feedback guys. I have decided against teh z tube for now, i will add what i said in my last post on this thread, and get an osiris tune. But, would any of this be affected by having an 04? my friend is getting one and he said that these mods wouldnt work well on the 04, any opinion?

I actually did search, and found about 1000000 different mods people suggested. I was wondering SPECIFICALLY about this setup. No need to be a smartass.
