Hi all,

My 04 high mount brake light has gone out on me. Well, just 1 of the LED element but it caused the others to be very dim. I have search and found some older threads, but they do not seem to be active anymore.

Would anyone know where I can get a replacement for less that $150-$200? Is anyone here still making these and selling them to forum members?

I've also tried to find the LED element itself so that I could take apart the dead one and replace it with a new one. Although these things are cheap, ~50 cents/each (lumiLEDS, hpWS-FH99-N20D0), no one will sell them in quantities less that 600-1000. Would anyone on the forum have some of these laying around that I could purchase?

You can buy LEDs from radio shack (ea) for a few bucks that have a close to OEM look and solder them on the old board yourself.

 

Thats on thing I might try. I do not have much experience with electronics, and am unsure of the specs. The originals were 150mA and 2.8V. If I got something that was 150mM and 2.8-3.4V, would it work? What's more important, the mA or V?

 

Ultimately you can set the led bulb on there and hit the brake light to test. It sounds fine, I used a 2.8V replacement from radio shack.
