Stupid Tires!
Ok, about a month or so ago, my tire preasure light came on. Checked and noticed that I had a nail in my right rear tire. My buddy works at a dealer and told me to bring it by and he'd patch it up for me no problem. (He's patched a lot of tires for me in the past too) After that a week goes by and the light comes back on. I refill the tire back to about 35 psi, and it takes about a week for it to come back on again.
I happened to have a dentist appt today across the street from a discount tire. Dropped the G off to fix the tire went to my appt came back. They had the car a foot or so off the ground with that tire off, so i sat down and waited, assuming that they were still working on it. After about another 30 mins of waiting I begin to notice that my car had no attention. I went inside to find out how much longer it was going to take and that I needed to head to work soon.. Guy tells me that the leak was coming from where the patch was, so they removed it and tried to repatch it. Said that it couldn't be fixed and that I needed a brand new tire. Now, the tire was losing about 5 psi per week, which seems to me is a really slow leak, but anyway who am I to argue with them.
Made some phone calls, and seems that the best deal I can get on 1 new Pilot Sport is 300 out the door, with insurance, mounting, balancing, etc etc etc. I went to about 5 different places and none even stocked the tire, and the soonest I could get one is Friday. I had Discount order it and plan on going back Friday to have it installed (can't drive my G for 2 days
cause already put about 65 miles on the donut)
I live in the San Diego area. Does anyone know if I can even get a better deal than this? Or should I just go with getting this tire on Friday?
BTW: '04 Coupe 5AT with 18's (245/45/18)
EDIT: Also the guy said that both rear tires are getting low and that I should consider replacing both of the rears asap, and I had about a month or so left on them.
Now I only have 7600 miles on my coupe and I have almost a full fingernail of tread left if i stick my finger in there. WTF is up with this???

If I remember correctly, I think Costco had the Pilot Sports in 245/45-18 for $246.
It seems all tire places try to get new tires out of you (hey, its their business) you know if your tread is good or not. I have been told many times I had a month left or so on tires and they lasted at least 4 more. I drive hard too..
