what is wrong with my car?HELP!! what could be wrong with my car?Iv had my 03 G35 coupe for a little over a year now. Every time i start my car it will make this grinding noise for about a second or two. While its doing that the oil light flickers. When the sound is gone so is the light but when i turn my car off then on again it wont do it again. It has to sit for 10 min. It has gotten worse since i had it. It makes this nois3 like 95 percent of the time. The other times i dont hear it and it turnes on normally. I have gone to many mechanics and they have all said something different ranging from its normal to the timing chain guides. I just want to know whats wrong with my car. When i drive the car the sound doesnt come back nor does the light come back on. What could be wrong? It has about 95k miles and my oil level is full and i use 5w- 30oil mobil 1 oil and filter. I really just want a straight answer. Thx for the time
Welcome to G35 Driver Koki!
Concerned me when I first heard that grinding noise too! Did a Search only to discover that noise is the traction control engaging which only last seconds...Gary

do you check your oil?
All older cars make SOME valve train noise at start up because the oil runs back down to the pan and there is more clearance than a new engine. Once your oil is up to pressure, the noise goes away. But check your oil!

So would you say that the noise is normal? I check my oil regularly and it still makes the noise even when its toped off. When i first got the car it would have to sit for like an hour or two. Now i only have to let it sit for 10 min or so. It drive normally tho
The noise Koki is experiencing is obviously traction control engaging, same noise we all hear! I can't answer why Koki's oil light flickers and why I installed gauges so I could track oil pressure under various conditions...Gary
