Rusty Calipers after 2 weeks
Rusty Calipers after 2 weeks
I recently had to replace my rear calipers and rotors after one of the calipers seized up. Unfortunately they seem to be rusting already... They were brand new from O'Riley's. Is this Normal!? Do they come uncoated?
Same thing happened to my replacement calipers on my Tacoma after a week or two. They still function just fine even years later but it looks like $hit. You could probably paint them to prevent this but you really should have done it before putting them on this way you wouldn't have to do much prep work. It will be a PITA to do it now.
Btw just a friendly tip, I have used al types of brake caliper paint the brush on paint stays better than the sprays but recently I used VHT engine enamel on mine because I wanted that copper orange color that the brembos are, and it has completely held up through all the salt. Hell my coated rotors even rusted and my calipers still look perfect
