Best Oils to Use

Greetings,

I'm starting to do my own maintenance on my 06 G35 MT Coupe. It has 105k miles now. I have a few questions and would like to get a few opinions:

(1) Best full synthetic motor oil to use (I live in CA, it's not cold)?

(2) What oil filter to use?

(3) Best manual transmission oil to use?

(4) Best differential oil to use?

(5) Best engine coolant to use?

(6) When changing motor oil, MT oil, and differential oil, do you guys change out the copper crush washer each time? If you do change them out, where do you get them?

(7) How long do you go before changing out your full synthetic motor oil?

(8) How long do you go before changing out your MT oil and differential oil (book suggests every 30k)?

(9) Is the differential oil drain and fill plugs located towards the front of the car and the MT oil drain and fill plugs located towards the end of the car?

Thanks for your time and help!

allll this info is already in the forums. its all part of the fun to go out and search for it here. youll be surprised how much you learn.

but ill be nice. as for your oil, best to get is synthetic. 5w30 i believe is factory viscosity and you should have no problems using it. (i use 10w30 mobil1 syn, but i live in miami where its summer all year long)

oil filter doesnt really matter aslong as you change your oil appropriately 3000-7500 miles but that's preference and depends how you drive as well.

as for all the other fluids just do more searches, i promise its all here for you.

welcome!

If you care for your wallet and your car the most, you will get Used Oil Analyses for your old oil. These give you the best value for your oil, and use regular Dino and the cheapest you can find it. Synth is overrated because of oil burning in cars.

I use Rotella. ITs a diesel oil, but VERY good oil!!!!!! I am boosted so that has some to do with it.... I need to check my filter and swap. Someone was saying to switch to a kind that has a better magnet in it.

That's one hell of a question, best oil? That's like asking what are the best tires or who makes the best hot dog in SoCal. Everyone has there own opinion, don't make threads asking these kinda questions use our Search, read all the stickys and form your own opinion!

Just buy a neodymium magnet and stick it to the drain plug or the oil filter... Then you may keep buying cheap *** filters lol.

My experience shows that Castrol Syntec (european formula) 0W30 is quite good for a VQ that consumes oil.
Mobile 1 was consumed slightly more and Penzoil Ultra (natural gas synthetic) even more.
Amsoil swears that their oil will perform even better than Castrol. I will be trying Amsoil on my next oil change.

I used AMSOIL for several years, about 30K miles. Started using a quart between changes and switched back to Mobil1. My oil pressure is a 2 lbs less (hot idle) with Mobil1 but I quit using oil between changes!

My understanding is that Amsoil signature series swears to help oil consumption.

I'm thinking about trying it because my engine consumed about 2 quarts of oil in 6,000 miles....

Joker, 10W/30 Signature Series. The very one my oil graph/chart shows contains less bad ingredients after 1K miles and why I ran it for so long! Now I just look for Mobil1 at Costco while doing shopping...Gary

I want to try 0W40. Supposedly best performance and best oil consumption results. (according to amsoil reps)
