I'm in Tampa Florida.

I had an old 72 Camaro that I was tired of dealing with and had it up for sale. This guy contacted me with a trade for this car, and I was happy to trade, and give him the headache.

I still have my 2000 Z28. I still love the Z28. It's a lot faster than the G, but as you probably know, the quality isn't quite on par.

I really like the smoothness of the G, and the handling. It feels like it's on rails.

Actually, I was on the freeway today, doing between 60-70 mph, about 50 feet behind a van. There was a pretty big dead turtle in the middle of the lane. The van cleared it no problem, and when I saw it, I realized if I go over it, I'm going to do some serious damage to the lower bumper, and possibly the underside of my car, so I swerved to the right, half way onto the shoulder, without even a bit of tire squeal, and avoided the big *** turtle. I was super impressed.

I understand the feeling towards the grills. I can't afford new wheels. What's wrong with the ones I have?

Sepsis, why don't you try painting the grills black before buying anything, you have nothing to loose. Your wheels look fine, don't worry about what others say, we are all opinionated. You have to work with your budget, if you don't like the wheels start saving for a future set. If your present tires are good, run them till they wear out and then maybe consider new wheels if you want. Welcome and nice ride.

That's actually not a bad idea man. I have plasti-dip laying around, maybe I'll give that a shot.

As for the wheels, I know TSW aren't even close to the best, but to me, they don't look half bad on there. The tires are almost brand new BFG g-force sport comp 2...long *** name.

Thanks for the welcome.

I think the reaction to the wheels is that they are too dense and busy. I can kind of see what prior owner was trying for with micro-fin grill and micro-spoke wheels, but it's a fail for me.

Jeff,

Go with what works for you and what is in your budget, I personally don't think the wheels look bad. Are those the wheels I would go and buy? Probably not, but I would not make wheels a priority if the tires were new like they are in your case.

It's like this, you have a sweet ride that many other people wish they had. It's normal for our members to comment on their likes and dislikes, but in the end they will understand that the budget dictates what gets done. Enjoy your ride, be proud of it cause you should be, everything else will come with time.

Start with dipping those grilles and see how that works, you might just be surprised .

Yeah ah, I wouldn't attempt to make the billet grille look good. I'd try to find an OEM or OEM style grille for cheap and then paint it black. The OEM and emblemless oem-style grille are really the only ones that look good on the G. A small percentage of people like the gialla grille, but those people are usually high on the weed.

BTW, was yer 72 a split bumper? That's a sweet car, man..

Very nice car OP, I just picked up a 2003 in the same colour! I'm in the camp of the all black grille with a chrome emblem.

Welcome and congrats on the new G-coupe.

I think your grill looks ok for now. Its the wheels i'm not diggin so much.. looks kinda old school. But the blue paint is pretty sweet, and quite rare.

$89.99? That seems awfully cheap for a grille considering shipping is free. One would naturally assume the quality and possibly fitment to be crap. IIRC the Data Systems and Gialla grilles were upwards of $200 shipped... maybe more, and this was many years ago too.

I actually bought one of these (not emblemless tho) off a member here (said it was OEM). I kept it anyway cuz it was still better condition than my OEM one. Fitment is perfect actually, but the finish is extremely uneven. The chrome is dark in some spots and light it others; I imagine the black finish is equally disappointing. It would be a good option if you wanted to paint it black.

Material is impressive for the price, but not quite OEM.

Those wheels look like a pain to clean. OEM grill is the one I like the best. Plus it was engineered to work with our cars. The bumps in the grill help get the air in there.

Cool New user

I just joined today as well, I'm new in the g35 world but am in love with this car!
It is stock right now with some 19" zenetti wheels/toyo tires, has 74k miles bought from dealer for 12.5k. I want to get some mods going but not sure where to start..
