P0462 after fuel sending unit replacement

Hi guys,

I have a 2007 G35 coupe with 128k. Love the car, and has been pretty solid so far due to the meticulous upkeep I do as well as what the previous owner had done.

Recently I had an issue with the fuel gauge where it was not showing the correct level, and it was also throwing the fuel sensor low voltage error code.

I took it to the dealership, coz I could not find any shop to do it for me, and I did not have the time to try a DIY. They told me that the fuel sending units need replaced, and also said that it also could be a problem with the combination meter but they are going to first do the fuel sending units and see. So they replaced the fuel sending units and told me it should be all good now, and that the combination meter is fine. But, right on my way back I got the check engine light again and when I ran the code it was the P0462.

What might be going wrong here? Am I looking at an expensive combo meter job? Or does it look like the dealership has made some mess?

This is really driving me nuts after a $400 repair and some help would be really appreciated!!!

thats crazy they charged 400$ for that. its 200$ in parts and takes about 40 minutes to change.

the first thing i would do is either take a look at the work they did yourself or to a well known shop. or you can roll the dice and take it back to the dealer and ask what the deal is. if they messed something up, can you prove it, ect.

I ran the self diagnostics on the combination meter today, and all checks passed according to the service manual. All meters worked, and all digits showed up as expected. I am guessing some harness connections or the sensor replacement is messed up when they did the job. WDYT?

So, just as I thought the dealership is giving me an estimate of $1200 to replace the gauge cluster! I am wondering if this is a real issue coz the self diagnostic went well. Anyway I am not prepared to dump this amount of money on my car which itself is worth around $11k tops :P I was thinking of looking at folks who rebuilt clusters like 'module master'.

Does anyone have experience doing this on a G cluster?
Are my key codes, mileage etc going to be preserved after the rebuild?
Any legal stuff I need to take care of?

Appreciate some inputs guys!
