Whats the difference between 2004 & 2004.5

Ive seen the 2 years referenced many times but couldnt find an explanation about the differences between the 04 & 04.5 and/or how you you can tell if a car is an 04.5. Is there something in the VIN?

Thanks

There are small differences that hint at the '05 model.
The shift **** on the 5AT is small like the '05. And there's some mechanical changes that hint toward the '05 as well, anyone care to contribute?

Good question! Yes indeed there is a big difference between the 2004 and 2004.5. The 2004.5 was changed over to a "low emissions vehicle." It still features the same basic performance however it features a more complex, larger, ECM as well a few additional sensors. Hope that helps!

This is all good info, but how would I tell if I have the 2004.5 model? Is it listed that way on the title? Im really guessing theres something in the car VIN that would tell me.

Look on the inside of your drivers side door, should have the weight and the date it was made

80000 and below = 2004
80001 and above = 2004.5

I think you left out a zero in each of the above numbers...

IF the VIN ends in 800,000 or higher then you are supposed to have a 2004.5 ECU. These cars have more hp and torque on the dynos than the 2004's. Although Nissan never published this data it was done to test out the up and coming changes for the 2005 vehicles without the exhaust changes.

Some people are so gullible.

neffster, how come the 2005.5 has more HP and torque than the 2004? is it just because of the ECU. so, how much HP and torque does the 2004.5 has? are you saying that it's more than 280 hp and 270 lb/torque?
