06 projector upgrade

I'm upgrading my headlights to some new 06 projectors but it comes with no bulbs. so far I've read I need d2s bulbs for the projectors but is that it can I swap all the others? Any suggestions for d2s brand and brightness maybe 6000k? Last question I don't want these new headlights to get all spider cracked and yellow like my old ones so I was thinking of buying a clear uv overlay for them like this http://www.autoanything.com/lights/60A1218A0A0.aspx or I've read there are uv spray's but wouldn't the overlay be best?

Neat idea ^. I don't know if you've ever put on a clear bra before but it's going to be absolute hell for you because of our teardrop headlight design.

As for bulbs, that is preference, but remember the closer you are to stock 4k the more output you get. Make sure you get D2S for the projector yes.

I would avoid spray on protectors like the plague. I had a really bad experience with some clear spray on cover and I won't be using that stuff anymore.

Nope you need D2S and I'd recommend you get these, I've had nothing but great experience with these.

As for the X-Pel Overlay, I'd recommend that anytime. I ordered those for a new set of projectors I purchased awhile back and they've held up great. They are really thick to protect the headlights from rock chips and the overlay is still extremely clear after a year. I installed these myself and it was easy, I've never installed any other overlay before these.

Here's a picture with them installed

Shoot it's that easy to put on ^?

Also, you really need to wet sand and finish those eye things.

Haha yeah I need to get them cleaned up, purchased them like that.

Yup, If I remember correctly all you needed was a spray bottle with one part rubbing alcohol and three part water solution and the little squeegee tool included to smooth it out.

Yeah the x-pel Is exactly what I'm talking about I just wasn't sure if it would trap in to much heat and ruin them but I'ma go with them then. Okay i'ma get the d2s then but can I directly swap all the other bulbs? I've read 6k is best for looks and performance, any more input on this? I'm new to this lol thanks for the reply's

Yeah the other bulbs should be a direct swap (Blinker, Reflector, etc.).

Here's an install video I used for the overlay that might be helpful for you as well
