Bad Gas?
Sorry, but no joke. We had a run of bad gas in my area last summer. Water got into an underground tank at a gas station and messed up quite a few cars. Just a guess.

i'd also get it looked at. could be your fuel injectors as people have mentioned. i'm just guessing here, but it could have something to do with your MAF sensor. do you have anything aftermarket on your intake? have you changed your air filter recently?

Let me know. Mine doesn't sputter but it does kinda knock - not loudly, my mom just said it wasn't as quite at the Monte Carlo was at idle.
I remember reading that our cars run close to the knock sensors as it is so I just thought since these put out so much power that they run like that to begin with...no change in performance and I don't even think its a problem with mine...
Come back to let us know though, I have an 04.5 also.

I have the same problem with my 04.5 6MT. I think the knocking sound is from the shake of the clutch due to random jumps in idle vibrations (engine sputter maybe?). Also, my check engine like went on yesterday too...which i think usually means a problem with the emissions. I have a K&N filter installed that i'm going to swap out for OEM this weekend. Hopefully this will help.
