Depending on the mileage, it may not be worth it. IF there is more than 50-60K on it, it's probably not working as a LSD anymore.

the gear ratio upgrade is still worth it IMO, but you really have to get ir for the right price.

I would, there's not much LSD left in there if any (depend on how car was driven before) but the gearing is a definite plus.

I got one from an 84k car and LSD still works, but the gearing is what makes it actual fun.

Do these have a higher (more acceleration) or lower (higher top speed) gearing?
Maybe higher and lower are the wrong way round but you see what I mean...

automatic 3.3 manual 3.5, G37 3.7.
So it's a faster acceleration since gearing is larger.

I'm not sure how LSD can be tested, worst case scenario you will have an open diff just like you have it now just larger gearing. So no harm done.

I'm not sure if this is acceptable for nissan VLSD but these are the procedures for testing LSD at racing events.

"9.3.11.6 If a limited slip differential is fitted, it must breakaway at 65lb-ft. or less. The lockup will be checked at Impound if a protest is filed. It will be tested at the center hub nut, using a 30mm socket and commercially available ½” torque wrench. The car will be placed on solid pavement, the right side of the car will be jacked up until the right rear tire is free from the pavement, the transmission will be placed in neutral, and the parking brake, if present, will be released. The torque wrench will be placed at the nine o’clock position with the socket on the center nut. The torque wrench will be set at 65 lb-ft. and pushed down. If the differential does not breakaway prior to the torque wrench “breaking away,” a second and similar style torque wrench from an impartial party shall be used in a second test, immediately following the first test. If the differential does not breakaway using the second torque wrench, the car will be disqualified from the preceding race and the DQ will be noted in the car’s logbook.'"

here is the video on how to check the diff, bummer that it needs to be installed in the car. And you'll probably need to check service manual to find out what is the Breakaway point of the diff.

"Viscous" Limited Slip Differential

There are plates that are very close together in a silicone oil bath and they tend to grab and lock up when they spin. Not a clutch type or gear type.
