List of problems you had with your G

Just trying to gauge the average G reliability.

If you can, please post length of ownership in months, mileage, and a list of problems you’ve been having with your G.

17 months and 16,500 miles:

• Driver’s window dead regulator – replaced
• Rocking squeak from rear axle – TSB applied (problem reappeared since)
• Rattle from rear parcel shelf – TSB applied (padding foam added)
• CD changer skips songs – Head unit replaced
• Rattle from sunroof - lubricated hinges
• Leather on Driver’s seat is cracking – dealer said will fix under warranty.

i seem to be taking my car in too often. but thats because i was in an accident where some woman hit me. otherwise

-my right headlight goes out, turns out to be wiring or electricity problem
-my entire right side later ****s up as in windows, power seat, and headlight combined.
-alignment
-brakes replaced at 9k
-tires replaced at 11k

13 Months..
Master window switch replaced due to passenger side window not operating after 11 months.
Radio head unit replaced after left front side cutout of sound, and skipped excessively in cold weather (way more than any player should). This problem started after 8 months.

Those are the only two issues to date.

On the positive...
The car has never failed to start, never failed to be fun to drive, looks better than just about every other car on the road, brakes that have saved me on several occasions from idiots not paying attention.

It seems like a great deal of the problem occurs with the interior parts and finishes. There have been far fewer problems on the engine, and less on the transmissions in the past year. It's not like owning an American or European car from the mid-90s or earlier, where it you could not count on it to get you where you were going everytime you asked that of it. However, I do wish that the radio was of a higher quality. I do envy Lexus for that, but not much else compared to the coupe.

20 months, and 17k miles. Problems I've had to date:

- CD player quit and ate all my CD's - replaced by dealer (still don't have my CD's back)
- Rear parcel shelf rattle. TSB applied TWICE, fix only lasted about 3k miles each time, still rattles. Rattle was there Day 1 from the factory.
- Navigation system would lock sometimes on startup when hot out. Dealer installed firmware update, and OK now.
- Intermittent rattle in dashboard, near NAV screen.
- Rattle coming from underneath the car when first moving from a stop, and when shifting. Sounds like a loose heat shield, but may be clutch.
- Loud pop/clunk sound coming from the rear roof area when going up or down driveways while turning. Acorn dropping on the roof sound.
- Clutch chatter/shudder from a stop (did this since new).
- Brakes (Brembo) seem to get fused to the rotors everytime it rains out and the car sits for more than 8 hours, resulting in a loud BANG when first backing the car out. Brakes also randomly squeek when NOT in use, just cruising speed.

Nothing major, but a lot of little stupid stuff. Far more little problems then I expected from a Japanese car, considering how great everyone always said they are.

Don't sweat it. Just take it in and have it corrected.

Cool

27 months for me (Nov 2002) and 19,800 miles. So far;

1) The driver side window streak that I will not fix. I've heard about dealerships making things worse. Like new rattles, etc.

2) My brake pads are finally starting to give up. I have the non-Brembo coupe, so my pads will be replaced for free when I decide to do it.

And that's about it.

8 months going on 9...and 6500 miles

Only problem I've had so far was:

1. Window streaking (TSB, no charge)
2. I get a clanking noise from my rear-axle sometimes after driving while in park...Ill be asking the dealer about this shortly...

Other then that everything has been great so far...Knock Knock

I get some rattling on my glove box door when cold while driving through
bumpy roads...but goes away after the cabin is warmed up. I put some EZ felt to
try to minimize movement/rattle while the glove box door is closed, but I still get
some rattling. The noise goes away if I press on the glove box door.

Any tips to fixing this w/o taking it to the dealer?

I have the EXACT same problem. I tried putting foam tape on but it only seems to work until all the "squish" is out of the foam...then the rattle comes back. I've brought it to the dealer 3 times but they claim to never be able to recreate. Which of course is total BS.

2003 G35C w/hmm 27000miles

1. Rattle somewhere above the instument panel
2. Rattle from Rear View mirror. - Fixed
3. Some noise comming from the glove box. Not sure if that's a problem or because I may have alot of stuff in there.
4. Right windows would not go up or down, unless I banged on door panels. -Fixed.
