I know there it's at least one person that has missed a nexus 7 in the nav screen spot. Search around.

Someone did it with a tablet in the nav and radio spot. Looks like a lot of Bondo, fiberglass, and work to get it all done.

I installed an AppRadio3 in my Audi A4, Chromecast, rooted my Nexus 6, and purchased AppRadio Unchained. This allows me to cast my phone on the head unit in the car and control my phone from it. I'm thinking of doing it on my G, but have a lot of other projects around my house and car(s) that need to be resolved first.

Another option that I have been pretty happy with.

Any particular reason you want an android tablet? I run an android radio and it works perfectly. I know most don't do the whole chinese brand stuff but I've had mines for years and it does everything my phone does and built in navigation for less than 300.00 bucks.

Head units running Android are becoming more readily available nowadays but I can see the usefulness in adding the tablet. You can have all the factory nav/trip computer info as Well as anything to do with android. DigitalDeviant's build thread is a must read for anything like this.
