My engine temp shows half way. Is that normal?

Normal for a fully warmed up car, yes... halfway up the gauge. What else would you expect it to be?

Gauge at half way is perfect after warm up! Now for any future questions if anyone has this same question they can find the answer by doing a Search!

These ^ are the type of questions you could ask your mechanic with doing an oil change. Tire pressure is on the inside of your drivers door jam, what octane gas is on the inside of your gas door! Read all the stickys at the top of the coupe page, then you won't have quite as many questions! There's nothing wrong with asking questions...try using our search function first!

Hmmm halfway is normal, that's news to me. My temp gauge never rises above a third during normal driving/idling. It's never been consistently at the halfway point and I live in a sweat box down here on the Texas coast.

yeah, my car has a motor from from another g35 that was rear ended. But when I had my original motor I thought it would be slightly above a quarter.

That's weird man. Have you ever monitored your coolant temperature with an OBD-II Reader to see what the numeric values are?

No I haven't. I did get the Torque2 app and an ODB2 scanner so I might have to check it out, just never felt the need since my car has been the same way for the 100K miles I've put on it over the years.

Those things are so frickin useful when trying to troubleshoot emissions problems. Night and day from trying to use a simple code reader or a Scangauge due to the ability to graph things like upstream and downstreeam O2 sensor voltages against one another on the same chart while driving and also automatically looking up vendor-specific advanced trouble code diagnostic info instantly. I have saved so much time repairing vehicles since getting one myself. Too bad these weren't so readily available on the cheap back in the early 2000's.
