I am brand spanking new here!!!

I just got my G this past Sunday (Feb 27) as a B-day present to myself. It is Brilliant Silver/Charcoal, with Premium and Aerodynamic Packages. The G is the first Japanese made car I had for a long time since. I have been driving Mercedes for the last ten years and still have two in my stable - an E and a SL. I traded my C-Class for the G.

Now, is there something I need to be concerned with? My car, though is brand new, is a 2004 model year left over. It is 5AT, as some of you guys will say. I have not gotten much chance to drive it since the weather here is not very cooperating, thought I put 100 miles on it the day I drove off the show room. What are the most problematic area in this car? I have been reading up on some of the threads, and noticed that some of you mentioned Brembo brakes. I don't think I have it on mine. Is it standard for '04? Or is it an option? Does Infiniti offer integrated phone in their cars like the Mercedes does? I will shut up for now, any enligtment on my new G will be appreciated.

Brembos are standard on 6mt car for 03 and 04...Since you have a 5AT you won't have Brembo's...They look great and feel great but they can become costly and don't provide much difference in street performance...Problem areas? What problem areas? You chose a very good Japanese car to come back too...The interior and minor things of that sort will not be as refined as the Benz's that you own but the fun factor and sporty feel will leave you smiling everytime you get behind the wheel...Just understand that these are 2 different types of cars, don't expect that quite comfortable ride in the G...Expect beautiful handling, substantial power, and many many stares...Once the weather clears up do yourself a favor lower your window and listen to how beautiful this exhaust is, its intoxicating...Gluck with your new ride...

First off, congrats on the new ride. You will definately love this car. It turns heads...

the brembos come standard and are only available on the 2003-2004 6mt's.

the problems that are most apparent are probably the horrible gas consumption this car has- I am get like 280 on a full tank which is like 14 mpg!!!!

Other than that, tire wear is another concern. I have had my G for about 9 months and I know pretty soon, Im gonna have to replace them. Then again, my car is lowered, so that changes things too...I think on avg. they last 15,000-20,000 miles.

Hmmmmmm....what else is wrong with this car...??? You know what? I cant think of anything else!! This car seems mechanically robust and I havent had many problems in that area. Ummm...oh yeah!! The paint quality of this car isn't anything to brag about. As you will learn later, the paint chips easily so becareful with her.

Other than that, the G is sexy

Yeah, I know what you mean by turning heads. I am used to the stares from predestrians and drivers alike when I am in the SL with the top down.

The only thing I wish is that I have the Gun Metal color instead of the Brilliant Silver. The dealer does not have any in stock, what can I say?

And thanks for the info.

There have been problems with the non-Brembo (Nissan) brakes and rotors, however Infinity has extended the warranty for the brakes and rotors to 36mo./36K miles. Fuel economy is not that bad, with the 6MT I've been getting 22MPG average. With any luck, we may get some improvement on the Maryland weather so we can get out on the road and enjoy the G's
