So...replacing sway bar endlinks on rear and front of the coupe and run into something interesting:
The rear sway links I have are part: K750047(rear right) and K750044(rear left). The left one looks like a regular sway link with a metal circle holding the boot. The right one has no metal circle holding the boot and the rubble boot is pulled over part of the lip. Anyone experience this with sway links not having a retainer ring?
A google search/amazon search shows K750047 WITH a metal retainer ring holding the boot but some google pics and websites will show K750047 exactly like the sway link i received, no retainer ring.
Since I've never seen a sway link not have a retainer ring, should I continue to use this part or take it off and get a replacement? As it stands, I've got both left and ring installed, havent drove it yet to see if any difference, just worried if this style of boot will let more dirt in since I can literally lift the boot and see the grease and ball joint.
That's just the way Moog makes theirs, probably some kind of rubbery dust shield for the pivot, my guess is it actually can come off and it will look identical underneath.
Just install them where they're supposed to go, it's just MOOG trying to build a better mouse trap! My OE sway bar end links (parts bin in my garage) with less than 20K miles on them have no grease fittings or boots...Gary
Yeah, i installed both sides yesterday and drove it today, no clunking from the rear right anymore Not sure if it was due to replacing the links or the sway bar bushing...or both? Either way, I'll take it.
I suppose i'll leave the ring'd left rear and non-ring'd right rear and see if theres a noticable difference after x amount of miles, if i even remember that far ahead

Congratulations, glad those new endlinks fixed that annoying clunking! Gary
