Whenever im crusing along in tiptronic mode ill be in 2, 3, 4 or 5 and it will automatically start downshifting as far as it can, even when im accelerating. Sometimes it will not let me upshift either, i was wondering if you guys have every come across this problem? any suggestions?

 

Start by cleaning up the transmission ground, it's located at the front of the engine on the very top, there are two 10mm bolts with a wire lug landed to the front of the timing chain cover, one is the transmission. Remove them, use a wire brush to clean up the bolt, lug, and the fece of the timing cover. Apply a little bit of electrical oxidation inhibitor grease (available at any parts house in a tiny packet) to everything and bolt it back up. Many time poor shift characteristics or transmission problems can be as simple as a bad electrical connection and the G is NOTORIOUS for this.

Also check your AT fluid level, fluid change interval is 30k so if you're past that interval mark then you're due...

 

I will try this when i get home tonight and give you an update. Also the car has about 133k miles on it ive only had it for the last 15k, I'm not sure if the car has had any ATF changes ever. Is there anyway to tell how long its been since the last change? Thanks

 

Err on the side of caution, American's are notorious for never changing their AT fluid for some reason, it might have the full 133k on the stock fluid...

 

ouch, 10-4, ill check what the fluid looks like, I hope that's not the case.
