missing piece with shift boot

missing piece with shift boot

I just purchased a new shift boot, and the step by step shows removal of a small gold/bronze bushing, that I dont have.

The thing the guy is holding with thumb and middle finger,l. What id this piece and do I even need it? Thanks guys

As long as it's threaded for the correct size/pitch then you shouldn't need it.

That piece is there from factory, and I'm guessing when previous owner put on the new shift **** it was lost. Just wasnt sure what it did or if I needed it. Thanks

Just wasn't sure if I needed it or not. but seeing as hownthe reason im replacing my boot is because the leather has strips fraying from the top circular circular plastic piece, maybe thats the cause. Might as well just order it. Daaaang, I gotta order that GTR shift **** too thats under it, hope it fits.. lol, Thanks
