CAI or Stock Hose Assembly..

Hi all.

Hopefully this is the right section to ask.
I'm still a newbie here...

Anyway, I have some SEL codes focused on one O2 sensors--I think it was one before the cat converter on the driver's side, very hard to get to. (it's currently with P1051, P1286, P1168, etc. after changing it out and tearing the hoses)
In the beginning, I only saw a code to change one of them. I changed that, but during the process I think I ripped the Air Intake hoses--top and bottom on one on the same hose accordion looking ones.
One was an accordion and one was flat.
Infiniti had told me I have to buy a new assembly as the boots are not sold separately.

Now my dilemma....It costs $200 for the assembly new...but then should I invest in $200 for an INJEN CAI?? (heard Injen was better than Nismo, even tho Takeda's CAI has some nice housing that fits in)
What do y'all think?

Thanks in advanced.

J

Take a picture of what exactly you ripped, you probably want to just go with the Z-tube which is the intake tube from a 350Z, it doesn't have the resonator/collector in the middle of it. It connects to the MAF and the TB, there are generally no power gains to be had by replacing that part but it sounds a lot better with the Z tube, the 350Z tube requires a pcv hose for a 350Z as well since it's a different angle and location than the G35 one.

I attached two pics.

One is the "accordion". Somehow I have two of them..one on the top side and one on the bottom of the whole assembly.
I ripped both when removing them to get to the O2 sensor I wanted to replace.
The rip is b/t the ridges..I could DUCT TAPE it, but that's only a temp fix so...

The other picture is of the exact Assembly that infiniti wants me to buy. Part# 16576-AL50A $199.99
Thanks,

If you have TWO of those accordions on that intake then I'm not surprised one of them ripped. The non-accordion piece shown in the picture is the proper 25 degree fitting that attaches to the throttle body, the accordion piece attaches to the MAF.

The bottom picture is how the OEM assembly should look but the entire thing can be replaced with a Z-tube.

^+1 having the same problem this past week on my sedan. You could buy some silicone sleeves from any reliable internet source to replace the flex pieces. I'm going with the z tube myself. I also believe the m35 tube looks like the g's but doesn't have the resonator on the bottom (not sure about the diameter tho)

I recently found cracks in mine so ordered these from Z1 - https://www.z1motorsports.com/intake...t-p-12137.html

The Z tube mentioned above is a great option too which come with built in plastic couplers
