What would you recommend,I have done almost all the work myself including the waterpump, timing belts, crankshaft and camshaft sensors,I do the spark plugs routinely along with oil changes and tranny fluids, only thing I haven't done myself is the energy suspension bushings which were put in the original control arms and suspension, what I want to know with the rod knocking I'm having I can either just replace my oil pump myself and rebuild my engine cost me 600-1000$ but will my miles go back down to 0 still the same engine block.i am planning on upgrading my vehicle. Just want to know if making my own engine or buying a rebuilt
one with miles on it is the better thing to do opinions are appreciated.

If you don't plan on keeping the car for more than a couple years I would just shop around for a used lower mile motor with good compression. That will only run you about $1k (maybe less, depends on what's available in your area) usually but if you have the skill and tools to rebuild it yourself you can do it for less since you've already replaced the timing chain components (if you did actually replace the cam sprockets which is the most critical and expensive part).
If you need cam sprockets, tensioner/guides, etc, then you will probably be about $1200 into a rebuild if you go budget on all components.
