Lightbulb Good article about making the 350Z handling more neutral...could apply to G's too

I posted this in the tires/suspension forum but nobody responded, so I'm going to re-post it in the coupe forum because I think it's a good article and we can learn from it.

This article describes what they did on their project Z to make it more neutral handling. They say the Z will understeer and then whip the tail out almost unexpectedly. Sounds like our G's! http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/pr.../0404scc_350z/

In summary, they put on the same width tires front and rear, reduced the tenacity of the LSD, and put on Hotchkis sways. Some of these can probably be applied to the G. They said their car didn't have VDC!
When I get new tires, I want to put 245/40-18's on the front to help balance it a little more.

I just purchased 245/40/18 tires for the front, I hope it will neturalize the handling.

This from an AutoX instructor:

G35 Sedan / Coupe handles more neutral than 350Z from the factory - mostly due to lack of front brace.
Hotchkis sways~ medium front and medium rear.
Wider front tires~ 245/40 front, 245/45 rear

I'd be careful though, it's good to have mild understeer at the limits~

In the article, it says the stock Z front tires are right up against the control arms. I checked our G and there is more clearance for those 245's up front.
