G35X 2005 AT 2 questions about suspension and brakes
Hi all,
I recently bought a nice G35X and have two questions about it.
1. What's the part number or article for the the bolt which is unscrewed from brake caliper in order to change front left brake pads? I managed to brake it (obviously crescent make decent tools) and I found out that its dims are 5/16-18 x 1" but in home depot and advance autoparts the bolt is fully threaded, while the one I broke had some space without a thread to allow bracket sliding I believe. Can you point me at it?
2. When I go over bumps I hear a rattle from front driver's wheel, when I hit the brakes slightly the rattle is gone, when the road is good there is no rattle. The rattle is the most noticeable when parking near a sandy beach there small rocks are laying on the snow. I changed front pads and had a brief overview of suspension but didn't find anything suspicious. Could this be compression rod? Can this sound be produced by caliper?

Can you specify what exactly could be wrong with shims? They seem pretty tight as well as caliper itself, like I said, I changed brake pads + shims for front wheels a couple of days ago and checked everything there, pads seem to hold pretty tight there.

You'll have to describe that rattle more. Is it a rattle or a popping noise? When my car rattled I changed the shims and it fixed the problem. But if you already changed those it could be anything. Check for loose bolts, maybe a brake line mounting bolt is loose or something.

It sounds like one metal part hits another metal part, today I tried to understand where is the sound coming from when my wife drove the car and I was out, but no luck, I also checked the bolts under the hood and they are all ok. It happens on the slow speed on a bump and very noticable on a rifts on the asphalt (on a small speed), one rift = I can hear the sound once, if I'm cruising slowly on a road made of small rocks and sand the sound becomes very noticeable and almost permanent, if I hit the brakes slightly it's gone. Does it point to caliper direction or no?

Ok. I went to the dealer today and paid 68$ for inspection (not that bad actually as I thought it would be 128 at least). Left the dealer with a quote of 3500$ Already spent 100$ on amazon which will save me 500$.
Anyways, they told me that driver's side compression rod needs to be changed. I thought that that was it (there was a play on it when I moved it with my hand), but was not 100%, now that they quoted 700 for compression rod change I will need to decide what to do next.
1. Replace at a dealer for 680? I can do this, but I'd rather not, I already had some experience with changing brake pads on this car, and looked at compression rods and other suspension parts, I also have a set of nice tools, I know It could be a pita if rods are rusted or smth. else but i'd rather not pay 680 to somebody if I can do this 100$ on my own.
2. Remove compression rod and replace bushings? I will have to ask somebody else to do this because I don't have a press.
3. Replace the whole part (honestly this is the option I'd like to stick to), however, I've found a lot of posts about the parts and I wonder if you can send me the exact part number which will fit my G35X and will not cost around 250-300$ like OEM one, yet, will be of good quality?

I searched more and found this part number: 54469-AC71F which seem to fit my G35X and costs cheaper, however, it looks different. Can you tell me if I can install this part only on driver's end or I will have to install both of them? Also, do you know if there are vendors on this site which provide discounts? I found a person called Jacob which used to sell OEM parts but he's gone now, anybody else here?
