G35 feels slow?

The g35 is a pretty quick car, no doubt but whenever I stomp on the accelerator the only time the g35 feels quick is if you stomp on the accelerator as fast as you can. If you dont step on the gas quickly, the G35 doesnt feel fast. Is this just me? or are there others out there?

Yeah I feel the same way sometimes. I don't know why this is but in my 5AT it feels almost like the torque converter is not delivering any power to the wheels until about 2500rpm. After 2500 it's much faster...

Even if you punch it at high rpms it doesn't really kick you back in your seat.....my old Acura Cl-s and Celica "felt" like they were faster at 5k rpms, they really pushed you back in your seat. I'm thinking it feels different for me possibly because my previous cars were front wheel drive (so you feel the torque steer) and the torque on the G is more linear compared to my other cars.

I think there was post about this before, someone said it was because of the positioning of the seats and the rwd that reduces the "throw-back" you feel on a Acura Cl-s or Celica.

Normal driving (for 6mts) it does feel kinda slow and heavy when ur changing gears at 2000-2500 rpms, but after 3nd gear it goes normal.

The g35c A/T feels a lot better and faster in the 4000-6000 rpm range. I think thats it peek range IMO. Then again... I came from a 01 v4 Altima and before that a 96 corolla lol so my opinion may not be very usefull

I have a solution.

Go on a business trip, rent a Chevy Malibu for a week.

I did this recently and the G scared me when I returned to it....

I couldnt agree more with this tip...i drove my moms Yukon Denali for the past few days due to bad weather and was enjoying it very much...

...however upon returuning to my G (i have had the same feelings as you in the past...my g isnt fast, etc etc etc) i was super-surprised and very excited to feel how resonsive, quick, and when punched - how downright fast my G is!!!!!! 6mt Rules!!!

I agree with you guys... The G feels slow only because I think the car is heavy... It's like driving an elephant compare to other cars... Especially when compared to a HONDA...
