What is this gizmo in my bumper?

I've been wondering since I got the car what is the plug-like thing in the lower bumper grille on the driver's side for??? It's an import from Canada (I'm in Germany) and I've never seen anything like this on any european car. Looks like a small electricity plug and there's a cable going from it inside the bumber. Does anybody have sth like this on their G?

I'm guessing it's an engine warmer.

And how do I use it? Do I plug it somewhere to warm the block?

Well I live in Florida and I use mine as a block air conditioner. Whenever I take off it gives and additional 10-15rwhp for the first few miles. Definitely worth the extra $150 install fee.

Not really, I'm just in one of those moods this morning.

Eddie, don't worry about this "gizmo", better yet, why won't you tell us about your Autobahn adventures...

hahaha... weird that some european cars don't have those. then again i remember my uncle in poland telling me how he used to boil water and set it ontop of his engine in his diesel powered mercedes in the winter time.

Man, heating, a/c, power assist, I didn't expect that small thing could do so much But I guess my first assumption that my G is a hybrid is wrong? Damn.

And when it comes to autobahn, the car is unfortunately not as well suited to it as my previous Seat Leon 1.8Turbo. It went 240kmh and was much quieter and more stable than the G at high speed (over 200kmh the body roll in a G while changing lanes rapidly is a little to high).
The max speed I drove with a G was 250 kmh but I think this is the set limit (ca. 157 mph??). I have installed the cf Z-tube and Stillen CAI today and after I do th plenum and cats I will get get busy with the ECU and reset the speed limit. Then we'll see what it really can.

It sure doesn't look standard. A plastic plug stuck into the honeycomb grille. I got it as a surprise gift, never mentioned it at ordering and never heard about it before.

I have to echo Eddie23. I've had my 5mt up to about 155 or so, and it felt a little "light". Could have been the road, but was as solid feeling as I am used to. Normally I only go that fast on my bikes, and they feel pretty solid at the speed.
