Being one of those potential DESTROYED modded G's, I agree with EZZ's comments, and I have about 450 to the crank currently.

Nissan knows what they're doing. They wouldn't bring the GT-R to the United States unless they felt their marketing and advertising departments were up to the challenge of selling the public on it.

You have a great car Randy. Just wondering if you ever felt that the SC overpowers your current suspension setup. If you've ever driven a turbo porsche, it has great power but everything feels like it can handle that power (brakes, suspension, etc..).

450hp is not enough to deal with next years sports cars...a corvette this year will have 500....an srt8 425...a gto has 400 already.....if we are expected to pay 60k and up....it should be able to stay close to a vette...or alteast a boxter S.

It would be a bad move for nissan to sell the GT-R as a nissan. Just as the supra failed with toyota because it was too expensive for a "toyota", the GT-R will also fail if it is badged as a nissan. The target audience for the GT-R shouldnt be for little kids with their GT-R dreams, but rather to the older crowd who can actually afford it. I highly doubt that it will be released as a nissan.

I wouldn't mind if it is NISSAN badge, it's more of a original. GT-R has always been with NISSAN no matter what. NISSAN and INFINITI are same company. Can't wait to see GT-R coming out!! and SUPRAAAA!!

"....Carlos Tavares, Nissan's vice president for the product strategy and product planning division. But he added, "If we don't change the specific target customer" for the Skyline GT-R, "it will be a Nissan."

------------

I think the target market here may be all the ppl who drooled over the Nissan Skyline GT R 32-34 that couldn't get it in the states. This would prolly make the target market 25'ish+, at least. IMHO, the die hards who wanted the authentic skyline GTR's would want the new one to be badged as Nissan. I don't think the general public is the target for this car, as they would have no idea about the legacy of it and the exclusive price would drive them away...

Well this may be a good thing. I can't see Americans paying in excess of $70k for a Nissan so maybe they plan on lowering the price target.

The thing that would suck the most is having the car serviced at Nissan. Those
damn kid porters and novice techs could play with your car while its being serviced
or taken out for a *test drive*. that's one reason I hate dealing with dealers like
subaru and mitsu for their STi's and Evo8's.

It should definetly be Infiniti. Look how unsuccessful VW has been trying to sell a $70K luxury car. Anyone spending $70K would expect the higher level of customer service that Infiniti provides (i.e. loaner car, longer warranty, etc).

Had a Nissan for a while, and tried out all the Nissan dealerships in a 30 mile radius......not really satisfied with any of them.

This is what I think:

mid 2007

2008 Nissan GTR AWD VQ35/40 with Twin Trubo and Variable timing.

2008 Infiniti G50 AWD hybrid with VQ35 and electric motor.

GTR will gear toward performance and is a direct answer to new Toyota Supra.
- 0 to 60 in 4.0 sec and top speed of 185 mph
- price is probably around 45k to 55k.

G50 rides smoother with the hrbrid engine and adds more luxury.
- 0 to 60 in 4.5 and top speed of 170 mph
- price 48k to 60k

Two different cars for two different types of buyers.

So let me get this straight... The "lower" model skyline 350GT is badged as an Infiniti, but the higher model GTR will be badged as a Nissan? That sounds idiotic.

The GT-R will be an Infiniti. Noone will pay for a $50k Nissan, although they're all Nissans. It's not a good idea to have a sports car as your flagship, if it's a Nissan. At least with Infiniti, it'll be nestle between the Q45,QX56,M45 and the FX45 one end and the M35, G35, FX35 on the other.
