I searched, maybe I am not using the right terms so forgive me if this is already covered. The quarter panel window trim (rear window on the coupe) is looking pretty shot. I could vinyl wrap it I suppose but I think some SEM paint would hold up better. Anyone pop these trim pieces off to spray them? If so, how do they pop out?
I know on the doors once you pop off the side mirror you can lift them off from the mirror end but the back quarter panel windows, I am at a loss for..........
(Don't mind the chips of wax on the car, just gave the beast a good cleaning before winter)
I used Rustoleum Wipe-New on that plastic trim about 1.5 years ago because mine was replaced due to a break-in and the aftermarket one weathered REALLY poorly. I'm shocked to say it still looks fantastic after the Wipe-New.
A big word of caution though, you want to TAPE OFF THE AREA so you don't get any on the paint or glass, it's an acrylic product and is an absolute bitch to clean off if you over-apply it onto mating panels. Keep some isopropyl alcohol handy in case you do because you can clean it up in the first 30 seconds without any problems.
Here's the stuff, it's absolutely AMAZING on anything that's black plastic, if your mirror trims (triangle part on the door exterior) are getting oxidized or any of the window moulding it's the perfect product, I live in a very intense summer sun/heat area and for ANYTHING to last a year is a miracle and to get 1.5 years out of a product is practically unheard of.
Thanks for the tip. Sounds like another great product. I popped off the drip trim molding from the roof today and sprayed them with SEM trim black... I would fully 10000% recommend that product. They look like the day the car rolled out of the dealership. I am hoping to spray the glass trim, mirror bezels and windshield base trim as well.
