Its an 03 g35 coupe 6speed manual, just basic things done. Low and loud thats about it for now.
Brake lights not working.

Hello everyone, Ive got a 2005 6mt g35 coupe and my brake lights dont work when I push the pedal. They glow like how they normally would but when I push the brake pedal the brake lights dont work, tried checking the fuse and there was no problem with it, any ideas what it could be?

Brake pedal switch, unplug and verify the switch is closing with a digital multimeter. Not sure if it's the upper or lower switch so just check them both, mounted at the top of the brake pedal. Should be easy enough to check by just unplugging the harness and working the brake pedal with your hand.

Be sure to disconnect the battery first so you don't cook anything, it's energized with the key off.

The upper black one is the brake light switch and lower brown one is for ACSD used on the cruise control..

https://cornerbalance.wordpress.com/2013/01/26/diy-350zg35-brake-lights-dont-work-aka-the-easiest-install-youll-ever-do/

also make sure the rubber pad that the switch plunger presses into is not missing or torn.

Thanks, I'll check that tomorrow. Now the worst nightmare comes...The check engine light is on...with code P1273, P1815, and others that just pops up randomly...(U14C1, U3FFF, P0002, P0042, P0036, B0691). Am I screwed? Just bought the car three days ago from a small dealership.

Unless there is some sold "as is" condition, you should bring it back to the dealer and see what they will do besides just clearing the check engine. Used or not, that is a ridiculous number of codes coming from a car just purchased.

With that many codes, I half suspect some kind of harness wiring or ecu problem.

The only other thing is that the car has not been serviced for quite some time and has a backlog of issues that need to be addressed.

I see evap code and vac codes that indicate to me a need for old rubber hoses to be replaced.

You shouldn't have to be dealing with this crap.

guess I'm really screwed then. I did signed a sold as is paper. The only thing that might have a slight chance of saving me is if he kept his word about checking the error codes after a week of driving, but I doubt they will do anything about it...

Write everything down; document everything; do not "wing it."
I would also take the car to a competent Nissan Mechanic or dealer for eval and to document what is wrong.

At the same time, I would contact the state about what the laws are and whether they are more obligated by state law than they think they are...or want you to know they are.
A dealership might help educate you with that.
You may be able to get a free consult with a lawyer even.
I would not tell the original seller what I learn about their real obligation to you.

I would bring a friend to witness all verbal exchanges and should they not help you and violate some state law....consult a lawyer.

The hardest part is making sure they do not just clear the codes and call it done without actually fixing anything..
I would contact them after I had done the above and try to be nice.
You have yelp and google review and the BBB to at least tell others of your experience.

I remember looking at an Audi for the wife...dealer said, "I will fix any problems that you find."
The check engine light was on...

The problems with the car may be small and just accumulated over time.
Again, let a real Nissan/Infiniti mechanic look at the car first, someone who has seen a lot of these cars go through his shop.

I guess its a good thing. Called the dealer and they are willing to pay for the repair. The dude did mentioned if it costs too much, then we will need to discuss about it.

P1273 - Bank 1 lean. Probably a vacuum leak.

P1815 - Manumatic switch (manual shifting switch) on the shifter is broken. Pretty common.

P0042 - Bank 1 O2 sensor heater failed, probably need a new sensor.

P0036 - Bank 1 sensor 2 O2 sensor (downstream one in the catalytic converter) heater not working. Probably due to all the other bank 1 issues.

B0691 - isn't a correct code for Nissan computers, same with those U#### codes you posted.

Get a different scanner because NONE of the codes you listed are actual Nissan codes but instead just generics. You run into these problems when you use an OBD2 scanner that doesn't have the correct protocol for the G35 vehicles, you need a scanner that does ISO 9141-2

Ahh, no wonder I can't look up those codes. It was results from the Bluedriver. I brought the car to their mechanic and for the initial scan, he said it has to do with the oxygen sensor, but I'll need to drop the car off to check for any leaks. Hopefully its not a costly fix...The left turning signal doesn't light up all the time too *facepalm*

I think the Torque Pro app loaded to your phone and a Bluetooth BAFX OBD2 reader will work for you.

Yeah that combination definitely has the correct protocol for the G35.

I'll try that out in the future then. For now, I've contacted the Bluedriver company and they sent me a new one to check if it is their hardware issue lol
(is it possible to move this whole thread? I've just noticed I've posted in the coupe section instead of sedan...)

The original poster had a G35 coupe (see post #1) so this thread should probably remain in the coupe section.
