2003 G35 CANBUS LOW tap - where?
2003 G35 CANBUS LOW tap - where?
Does anyone know where to tap into the CANBUS LOW signal on a 2003 G35?
I know that on 2004-2006 its pin 14 on the obdII plug, however on the '03 its well known that pin 14 is actually empty and even for something like a reflash it is necesary to re-pin the the OBDII port per instructions below:
https://uprev.com/documentation/2003...%20re-wire.pdf
That being said - does anyone know if pin 6 on a 2003 G35 OBDII port is in fact CANBUS LOW??? Or do I need to look for it somewhere else?? One thing that makes me say no is that on the 04-06 model years CANBUS LOW is a pink wire, but pin 6 (or 14 after the repin) is a red wire.
If anyone has some clarity on this or can simply say where to access CANBUS low on a 2003 G35 that would be great. Thanks!

2003 coupe has two possible types of CAN system, 6MT has type 1, 5AT has type 2. The difference is the 5AT one has CAN going to the TCM.
Both types low is pin 3 red, high is pin 6 blue.
This only applies to the 2003 - 2004.5 model year, as you're aware the harness layout changed in 2004.5

I recently got a hold of a Whiteline black box (VDC controller from a few years back made by Whiteline) and it requires input from the CANBUS high and low. Now I did connect to the High (blue pin 6 on OBD) and to what I think is LOW (red pin 3 on OBD), but I am getting a fault in the whiteline unit. I checked all of the wiring and I have good continuity on all of the plugs, so its not the wiring harness. This makes me think that either:
A) there is something different about the CANBUS signal on the 03-04.5 models versus the 04.5+ cars that the whiteline VDC controller is not liking
OR
B) the input for CANBUS low (red wire - pin 3 on obd) is not actually CANBUS low.
I need to do some more digging on this or alternatively might reach out to whiteline and hope and pray that someone at their tech department still knows how this thing works after all these years.
