Clutch switch (cruise control won't set)

I am the proud owner of my first G. 2007 G35 Coupe 6 MT. I love this car!
A few issues I need to address. First is the cruise control doesn't work. It turns on, but when I try to set a speed, the Set light doesn't turn on and the car won't hold the speed. I took a look at the brake and clutch switches, and it looks like the brake one is operating normally (I haven't tested yet), but the clutch switch lines up with a hole in the metal of the petal, so it never gets pressed (see pic). Is this how this switch is supposed to be?

Wow. No one else has had this issue? It's weird how the switch lines up perfectly with that hole, making the switch useless. I confirmed this is the issue by driving at speed, slightly pressing the clutch to get the plate out of the way, then used my finger to depress the switch. Then I was able to SET the cruise control. Pro Tip: don't let go of the clutch while your finger is holding the button in to test.

I'm going to try to just reposition the switch.

If anyone has a pic of what theirs looks like, I'd be very interested to see how it is supposed to be set up.

I stopped by a friends shop and he told me there is a plastic "plug" that goes in that hole. Guess if broke or fell out for the previous owner. Easy fix if anyone is reading this thread in the future.

My 2006 G35 6MT is doing the same thing. Can you tell me precisely how to check those switches? I'm a real newb so a detailed walk through would be most helpful.

Thank you in advance!

Also, where did you get the "plug" for it? Or did you have to replace the entire switch?

Sure. If you look on the clutch pedal you'll see the metal part with a hole in it, just like my picture, above. There is supposed to be a small, plastic insert in that hole. It just pops in and out. My friend is a mechanic and just said he'd order one for me, so I don't have a part number. I was able to verify that that was my problem by slightly pressing the clutch, just enough for my finger to fit in that space and press the button. While pressed, my cruise control worked fine.

Here's the part. The brake pedal has them as well (different part #).

It's a well known issue around here, but you need to give it some time for a response. These are older cars and there's not a lot of traffic here anymore.
