2003 G35 Six Speed With 11,000 Miles - Should I buy it?
I have an opportunity to buy this car for around $17,000. The car is a time capsule. The owner (original) is meticulous. Would you buy it after visually inspecting it, taking it for a spirited test drive, and finding it to be in outstanding condition? There are practically no signs of wear.
That is SO cool! There was one of these for sale on the site a few years back as well. Interesting that the only visible mod is clear corners, I would have laughed if the original Pilot Sports were on there!
Pretty cool to start from a blank canvas. The wheat interior is not my favorite, but hey, it’s brand new!
Price feels a little high to me, aftermarket clear corners so I would definitely check for any other upgrades/aftermarket.
Probably needs new tires, they're probably the stock 19 year old rubber so be EXTREMELY CAREFUL with "spirited driving" or you'll end up like Paul Walker. Wrapped around a tree because of old chemically degraded rubber, tread depth isn't what glues you to the road...
If it has things like upgraded '06+ projector headlights, poly rear diff bushing, plenum spacer, uprev tune, and some suspension work I would say the price was high but probably worth it. I don't suspect any of these things are done though so to me personally there's a LOOOOOOOOT!!!! of other G cars that would be a better buy.
Heck you could get one with a lot higher miles but a straight clean chassis for like $7k, throw in a used JDM motor for $2k, intake $1k, full exhaust $2.5k, $750 tune, $1500 full suspension work, $250 rear diff bushing, $1k aluminum driveshaft, $1k lightweight clutch, and be at the same price but have a significantly better vehicle overall.
That's my opinion anyways, it is a very very clean find though.

Those are definitely the '03-'05 headlights.

And it has the armrest kit as well. Wasn’t that an 04 option?
Pilot Sports came on mine as well and I get about the same mileage out of them. Great summer tires. I don't recall hearing any 6MTs or autos w/ the Performance Tire & Wheel coming with Bridgestones but it's possible. The OP should check the date code on the tires to see how old they are, to Cleric's point about them being dangerous.
I -think- all of the '04 coupes had the armrest standard.
My opinion about the price: These pop up occasionally on BaT and similar sites, and seems about right for what appears to be a mostly original car with only 11k miles (wow). If the OP is going to daily this car, put a ton of miles on it, maybe drive it through snow, then I don't think it's the best option. If it's going to be a second car (or third, etc.), and enjoyed without racking up a ton of miles and keeping it as much of a time capsule as possible, go for it. Also modding the hell out of it is probably not the best choice for this car either. Again just my opinion, do as you desire.
Well I guess maybe these cars aren’t highly valued when the turn up as unmolested garage queens. I mean the one I’m looking at has under 11,000 miles on it and other than clear fender lenses it looks like it just came off the dealer showroom in 2003.
It's certainly worth that much to someone yes. That's the thing about low mile garage queens, it's value is INCREDIBLY subject to personal opinion.
Me personally I look at a lot more than just the miles and condition, and the stock G35 has some pretty glaring engineering deficiencies. Rear diff bushing and a 5/16 plenum spacer AT MINIMUM (rev-up also requires MREV2 lower plenum), I wouldn't even consider owning one without those two deficiencies fixed.

Thank you. My understanding is that this year was not a rev-up.

Hoping to get some additional feedback.
It'll never be a MKIV Supra, but it should increase in value if that's what you're concerned with. Obviously there will be up and downs in the market and it's only worth what someone else is willing to pay. The car is still relatively young. Look how long it took the 240Z to start getting good money.
Maybe the seller won't be able to unload it for that much, we'll hit the recession that seems to be coming (or has already started according to some), and you'll be able to pick it up for even less in 6 months. Personally I think it's a fair price for today.
Edit: Now I see you started another thread where you state one of the rear quarters had been replaced. I don't care for that price so much anymore. ;-)

That is a brand new car for a good price. It isn't even broken in yet. Yes.... don't listen to these guys. They are right you can find a G for far cheaper but most of them are junked out, rusted, modified, and have unknown conditions throughout. This is a brand new Infiniti for a fantastic price.
People are freaking out about a 4k mile Z that just came up for $22k. I know low mile old cars are subjective value, but $17k seems like a great deal for a 6MT.
Listen to @cleric670 for everything else on this site EXCEPT for this thread. He is a total mensch but wrong on this one. This is a special case and can not be treated like just any G. To begin with 6MT coupes were rare to start only out for 2 years with the much desired Brembos. How many exist in this condition? Probably count them on one hand. Assuming you DO NOT daily it and continue to use it as a summer car occasionally this car and don't rack up the miles, it will only continue to appreciate in value. With inflation $17k is not a much at all.
I was in a similar situation in 2015, a bone stock, all original Caribbean Blue but mine has the aero package too and 36K miles. Bought it right away and now has 44K miles, no winters , still all original and I've been offered $15K (CAD) 3 years ago with front rims that need refinishing. I HOPE you already bought this car if not some dealer or flipper has bought it and you will be seeing it on BAT shortly and it will sell for $25K+. If you still have this opportunity GO FOR IT.
