New coupe is getting closer

Last couple of months I have been eyeing new '05 G35 coupes but I'm all over the map trying to figure out what options/colors I want. Options I believe I have decided on are 5AT, premium, performance tire and wheel. Gotta a couple questions to maybe help finalize my decision.

- Is the VLSD a "must have" option for this type of car? In other words, would you only have to be at a track while pushing the car very hard to take advantage of it?

- Has anybody tried running 18's (oem or aftermarket) on the '05 sport suspension package instead of the oem 19? Opinions on ride difference? Reason I ask is because the prices of 19" tires are much more than 18" and have limited selection. Not sure if I want to shell out $1200 every few years on 19's.

Thanks for any help!

vlsd really isnt neccesary unless you will taking it to the track,or road racing.the 18's will be a liitle less harsh than the 19's.as for handling, the 18's will be just fine.i have the standard 17's,and the car handles great.

Go with the 19's - have you ever seen them up closer? They are much hotter in person than in the pictures.

I think the VLSD is sweet, you throw that thing in a corner... it can be a real plus.

I also think the Sports Tuned Suspension (only way you get the VLSD on an AT) is sweet. The ride is a big stiffer, but is eases up after about 5k miles. Again, throw it into a corner... it is nice...

The 19" OEM wheels are damn nice looking, and having a a 40 series tire also helps in handling. When I replace them I will likley look to see if I can get 35 series.

As other have said, the 19s look great. They are worth keeping, even if the tires cost a little more.

Thanks for the input.

I have driven the 19's and they don't feel too harsh just having second thoughts on costs down the road. I agree they look pretty good but I like the look of the 18's too. When I first was looking into buying a coupe, I was trying to find a good mix of luxury and sport and I found the G35 has what I was looking for. I worry however the the sport tuned suspension may wear on me after awhile. My last "sporty" car was a contour SVT. Although it is no comparison to G35 the ride was stiff and after awhile the transmitted noise became a little annonying, mainly because the lack of adequate soundproofing. Just want to make sure my next purchase will keep me grinning longer than the SVT.

I'd rather have speed and handling than a luxurious ride. If you have a lot of crap roads that you have to drive on regulary, better to stay away.
