Engine removal

Hello, I know there’s tons of posts about pulling the engine but they’re pretty generic. Just wondering if anyone knows if I can pull engine and trans together without removing my long tube headers and cross member. Just wondering if the transmission can sag enough without the headers hitting, and if the steering column can move enough for the headers to pass by. Thanks in advance

I imagine the outlet of the headers ends up in the same place that the outlets on the catalytic converters end up, and if that’s the case it seems unlikely that you could pull the motor and trans with headers still attached. I was contemplating pulling a motor with the cats still on, but I just didn’t see any way that it would clear if you’re taking the motor out through the top.

@HoserG35 Yes the end of the long tubes is in the same spot as the cats. I don’t think they’ll clear either so I’m planning to remove them. The issue is just that they’re a pain to mess with

I hear ya. I would remove and then install them as you are pulling/installing motor. That will make it significantly easier.
