Electronic throttle system expert needed - weird issue experienced, need help
SubscribeThe car and me: 2004 coupe w automatic. I'm the original owner. Car has had minimal issues over the years and is well maintained by me.
The throttle in general: Car starts and idles perfectly. Throttle response is perfect, no hesitation at all under all driving conditions.
The issue: A few weeks ago while driving through mostly empty streets at night, I stopped at a stop sign that was on a slight downslope. After another car cleared the intersection, I pressed on the accelerator pedal and there was no throttle response, the car just continued to idle normally. Because I was on a hill I was able to gravity roll through the intersection and into a parking lot. Car continued to idle normally. I turned off the car then started the engine and throttle response was completely normal. It's been about 3 weeks and this issue has not reoccurred with maybe 10-12 short trips in the car and maybe a couple hundred miles driven.
It seems that the connection between the accelerator pedal and the throttle dropped out and then was restored by off-on restart. I'm not sure if this could happen while driving (not stopped at a stop sign like last time) but would like to figure it out before that happens.
Do any of you throttle experts have an idea how this could happen and could suggest a troubleshooting routine?
Thanks, John

BTW, I should have included above that I did not get a check engine light and no codes were active when I checked.
